The crisis spreads and Francesco, on the morning of Friday the 13th, loses his home, his girlfriend, and his job. Although not exactly in that order.

Francesco has never been superstitious, he has never believed in fate, in destiny in the strict sense, but in accidents, in the terrible inevitability of chaos, in the second law of thermodynamics, in entropy, yes.

He therefore seeks refuge at his mother's house, a former hippie whom he has never completely forgiven for conceiving him during a Frank Zappa concert and for never having known his father, but he doesn't hold back. Fiamma is engaged for the umpteenth time and he has always had a hard time accepting her disastrous relationships. With Apocalypse Now, his inseparable chili plant, he reunites with his best friends — Sergio, Teo, and Miranda — seeking, amid bizarre theories, aperitifs, and concerts, a way to get by on a planet invaded by rolled-up pants, unkempt beards, plaid shirts, and sunglasses worn even in the dark. In short, a way to resist the crisis.

But when an old rock concert ticket, an anachronistic phone number, and a woman's trembling voice bring him back to a past he never truly understood, Francesco is forced to confront a truth that has waited thirty years to be discovered.

In a dilapidated Genoa, where hipsters, dreamers, and lost souls share espresso, irony, and existential angst, the four friends must try to make sense of their lives, suspended between the absurd and the miraculous, and come to terms with a mysterious drunk wandering through time, a confused mother, a missing father, and a son who will learn that the chaos of the universe may be the most honest form of order that exists.

Tender, irreverent, and darkly funny, Future is a ste of mind is a meditation on time, chance, and the fragile beauty of human bonds.

A story about learning to live, finally, in the only place that truly exists: the present.
